Old Kentucky Chocolates

Old KY Chocolates founder, Don Hurt tells us the joys of making chocolate covered confections his way. First he learned the skills of weighing and cooking large batches of food in the army, where he was a baker. He prepared over 4,500 meals three times a day.  After returning home from a 2nd tour of duty in the army, Don bought Magees Bakery in Frankfort, KY and Don and his wife Pam started attending chocolate workshops in many European countries and even “Down-Under” in Australia to bring home new ideas to Kentucky. The only place you can fi nd their signature “Kentucky Bourbon Cherries and Kentucky Bourbon Truffles” is right here in Lexington, KY. They use Jim Beam Bourbon because Jeremiah Beam asked Don in 1964 to try his Bourbon in his candies and provided him a special tour of his distillery. Everyone is welcome to a free tour of their candy kitchen. Located at 450 Southland Drive in Lexington. Old Kentucky Chocolates has 3 locations; Southland Dr. 859-278-4444, Lansdowne Shoppes 859268-4711, and the Lexington Center Shops in Downtown Lexington 859-25-candy. They ship UPS and US Mail www.oldkycandy.com
